Some Peanut Butter and Jelly Films

I must say I love music just as much as I love movies maybe even more. That is why I am firm believer that the music in the film can and will make or break the film. There are plenty of films that I can think of that I love just because they had wonderful music to complement the movie. Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 have great songs in their scenes. Even though it’s mostly an action film, Quentin Tarantino took a different approach with the type of music he used for his action scenes. They weren’t your average “action” song but they worked out well in the movie. On the other hand some people beg to differ when it comes to music in movies. An anonymous blogger said “According to me there is no need of so many songs in a movie because generally all songs r not good n because of songs movies r flopped.” I’m not really sure what they meant by the songs being “flopped” but I have to disagree when they say that generally all songs are not good. There are millions of great art works of music out there and you just have to find the right one for the right film. An example of good music in a film can be seen below.

I love “old school” music. It reminds me of a time when music wasn’t so technological. I think the music in that film fits perfectly and without it, Crooklyn would have not had the impact it had. Another example of good music can be seen below.

To me the music went perfect in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2. To me the music is the jelly to the movie’s peanut better. You can’t have one without the other. I mean you can but it wouldn’t turn out as good. I hope I’ve made my point. I gave you two different examples with the same results. MOVIES NEED MUSIC! That is all.

The Movie's Music

The music in the movies is just as important to the plot and films its self. The music can either make or break the movie to me. It’s nothing worse than a good movie and the music sucks. I don’t think people realize how important the presence of good music is to a film or lack of good music. My mother collects soundtracks to movies. I love listening to the songs on the soundtrack and remembering where in the movie I heard it. I love music just as much as I love movies. An example of a good movie and soundtrack is the one from the movie Bamboozled. Bamboozled is a Spike Lee Film that deals with “new age menstrual shows.” The soundtrack features many good artist such as Common, India Arie, Prince, and Stevie Wonder to name a few. Stevie Wonder is a musician that I admire very much. Not only did he have good songs for Spike Lee’s movies, but he had good songs for other movies as well. An example of this was the song that was featured in the movie Poetic Justice. There is a scene in the movie where the character Justice, who is played by Janet Jackson, is alone by herself and starts to get deep in thought.

I love that song. “I Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer” it’s a sad song but I like it. Now whenever I hear that song I think of my friend Dana Brown that just passed away. Even though Dana didn’t pass in the summer, I still think of how I never thought she would leave me……not anytime soon anyway. That goes back to my reason for saying how important the music or score is to the film. It can make you think, laugh, or cry and to me that adds a whole lot to an average film.
